Tell us about your job position and some of your typical work tasks.
In my role with the Programs and Community Impact Manager, I get to spend time working directly with nonprofits, community partners and people who are trying to make Georgetown County better. A typical day might include helping coordinate a community initiative, connecting organizations with resources, planning an event or figuring out how to turn a good idea into something that can actually happen. A lot of my job is connecting people, solving problems and helping our partners move their work forward.
Favorite food: Hibachi, especially if I am cooking it myself.
Favorite drink: Lemonade.
How do you give back to the community?
I enjoy volunteering my time with young people, especially through coaching and youth programs. Some of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had have come from helping kids build confidence, learn how to work as a team and realize what they are capable of. I try to give back by being a positive and consistent presence for young people whenever I have the opportunity.
What’s your favorite thing about Georgetown County?
Georgetown County is small enough that relationships still matter but big enough that there’s always something going on. There’s good food, good people and a lot of folks who really care about this place. I like that people from completely different parts of the county can come together around something that matters and somehow figure out how to get it done.
Best advice you ever received?
“Don’t prove them wrong. Make them explain why they were.”
Favorite book?
The Outsiders.
Tell us something you wish people knew about you.
One thing I’ve learned is that life gets easier when you stop trying to be the version of yourself other people expect. I believe in showing up as yourself, being genuine and letting people adjust accordingly.
