Common Issues/Common Threads was established in 2008 in an effort to identify and provide needed resources and training to agencies serving Georgetown County. The Bunnelle team recognized that we could help in capacity-building by bringing outside resources into the community and sharing them with nonprofit leaders. Members also find benefit in expanding their knowledge of their own community, and in recognizing the unique value in fellow nonprofits.

The project launched with two listening sessions where facilitators helped identify needs and information gaps while building trust and relationships among members. Since those first meetings, lunch-and-learn sessions have been held quarterly. Topics range from management skills to trends in fundraising, communication, governance, and philanthropy. The group periodically reassesses its interests to make sure offered topics are relevant to members.

The Bunnelle Foundation sponsors CICT to promote networking and collaboration among community support organizations. Current and prospective members of Common Issues / Common Threads may log in to the CICT Groupsite at http://commonissues.groupsite.com.
