GET TO KNOW KRISTIN

Tell us about your job position and some of your typical work tasks.

I am the Office and Events Manager for The Frances P. Bunnelle Foundation. In addition to caring for our beautiful facility and meeting spaces, The Bunnelle Foundation hosts many events throughout the year, including Common Issues Common Threads, Community Conversations, Palmetto Giving Day reception and Pathways to Possibilities Youth Expo, where I assist the team in creating engaging events through hospitality and food! Sometimes something as simple as breaking bread with one another can be the perfect conduit to bringing people together to address the needs of our community.

Favorite food: Hot Fudge Brownie Sundae

Favorite drink: Chai Tea

How do you give back to the community?

I enjoy spending time with youth in our community as a tutor I currently serve in the youth ministry at church, and I also serve as a member of a life group that reaches out to women of all ages and backgrounds to bring them into a greater sense of belonging in our community. Before moving to Pawleys, it was my privilege to coach middle school and high school track and to volunteer in the school wherever needed. I love watching kids grow and thrive under caring mentorship.

What’s your favorite thing about Georgetown County?

Like many who call Pawleys Island home, I feel the pull of the outdoors. The beauty of the marsh, rivers, and ocean provides a lifestyle that brings out the best in people; wanting to do life with neighbors and to find joy in every day.

Best advice you ever received?

This too shall pass. It might sound cliché, but it’s important to remember that we are never “stuck”. There is always something to look forward to beyond our current circumstances.

Favorite book?

Into the Wilderness” by Sara Donati or “Where the Sidewalk Ends” by Shel Silverstein
