In an effort to build and retain a skilled workforce, the Bunnelle Foundation has partnered with Coastal Carolina University to develop an internship program for CCU students. Since the summer of 2018, Undergraduate and Graduate students from CCU have been offered the opportunity to work in engaging internships in Georgetown County. These students have been placed with businesses and agencies that match their chosen major, and these businesses assign the students special projects that take advantage of the skills they have already attained in their coursework.
In addition, the students receive class credit for participating in the internship program. Dr. Pam Martin of CCU has taken the lead on this project, crafting a course that is a high-impact, transformative learning program centered on giving the students real-life skills and experiences in Georgetown County with an integrated teaching/learning component.
